For the 30th consecutive year, New Bedford Festival Theatre is planning its 2020 Summer Academy for local high school apprentices who will work side-by-side with theatre professionals in all areas of theatrical production for this summer’s production of ANNIE. The Summer Academy will run from July 6 through August 2, 2020.
There is no cost for the participation in the Festival Theatre Summer Academy.
Many high school apprentices have gone to further education in Theatre on the College/University level and attribute their desire for work in theatre with their experiences with the Festival Theatre Summer Academy. Areas such as stage crew, lighting, sound, costuming, properties, stage management, and production office are part of the many interests students can be involved in. High School Apprentices will have the opportunity to perform or serve on the technical crew for the Summer Academy Players presentation directed by a New York University Student.
- Summer Academy members will also have the opportunity to attend workshops with a variety of theatre professionals across a range of topics.
- Summer Academy participants receive a stipend at the end of the program reflecting their level of involvement.
High school students should complete the application form, teacher recommendation form and required essay and mail to the address listed below by May 19, 2020. Personal interviews will be scheduled after application consideration.
