New Bedford Festival Theatre has completed its casting process for its upcoming production of Disney and Cameron Macintosh’s MARY POPPINS to be presents July 24 – August 2 for 8 performances at New Bedford’s historic Zeiterion Performing Arts Center.
Returning this year, after her critically acclaimed performance as Maria in last season’s THE SOUND OF MUSIC, is Melissa McKamie who will play the title role of everyone’s practically perfect nanny, Mary Poppins. The multi-talented Taylor Wright of Dallas, Texas will be Bert, the chimney-sweep teller of tall tales and chalk pavement picture magic.
Also returning as George Banks is local favorite Bobby Sylvia – last seen as Captain von Trapp. Mrs. Banks will be played by Lauren Gemelli who was last appeared as Diana Morales in Festival Theatre’s 2011 production of A CHORUS LINE. The Banks’ children will be played by Robert Goulet of Swansea as Michael and Emelie Kelly of Plymouth as Jane. The Banks’ household staff will consist of Staci Morin as Mrs. Brill and Ben Royer as man-servant Robertson Ay.
Doing double duty as the mysterious Mrs. Corry and the evil nanny Miss Andrew will be Stacey Geer, a favorite of local and Rhode Island audiences. Festival Theatre stalwart, John M. Costa will be seen as the Bank Chairman and Admiral Boom.
The large ensemble will include: Heather Bodnar, Kelsie Brejcha, Steven Del Col, Allyson Duarte, Alex Eisenberg, Andrew Garcia, Peyton James, Neil Jeronimo, Sarah Kawalek, Christopher McIntyre, Kevin Morris, Rachel Perlman, Marisa Rebelo, and Andrew Winans.
