This four session virtual workshop guides students as they hone skills essential to the craft of acting. Students will thoroughly explore a monologue, taking it from the rehearsal stage to performance level while developing their voice and physicality. Risk-taking and creativity will also be a focus, as students practice the art (and fun!) of improvisation and learn how it can enhance their acting. We’ll even have time to deliver some expert tips on the audition process!
Dates – February 16 – 19, 2021
Time – 4:00 – 5:30 PM
Place – Zoom
Cost – $40.00, 4 sessions
New Bedford Festival Theatre is committed to providing access to all our education classes and will never turn away a student for an inability to pay tuition. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more info

WHAT PAST WORKSHOP PARTICIPANTS HAVE TO SAY ABOUT OUR PROGRAMS:
Grace T. – “I loved working with [NBFT professionals]! [They] were lovely people – and I was able to soak up a lot of knowledge….Even though it was virtual, I was able to connect with other super talented individuals. The workshops were so interesting.”
Jennifer S. – “It was a great experience! I found myself taking notes every single class, trying to remember the advice they were giving to me as well as the other students in the class. It was so helpful working with professionals that…had experience in the theatre world…..It was a great way to stay connected during this pandemic. I have missed performing so much, and had a blast being back “on stage” in a way. Everyone in the class was so kind as well…..I learned how to play to my audience. Performing on a stage is very different than performing through zoom, and I learned a few techniques that help an actor play to their audience.”
Emerson C. – “It was an amazing experience. [The teaching artists] were extremely nice and supportive and they taught me a lot in such a short period of time. They were so much fun to work with……I got to work with some extremely talented people…We got to have a fun and interactive experience in a time where it is very hard to do that so I am very grateful for the workshop. I loved it!”
Makenna C. – “I felt honored even getting to work with [the NBFT professionals]! Getting constant feedback on what I can work on was just amazing…..I really loved hearing the different students involved in this showcase and learning about the experiences of being an actor and tips given to us if that is something we wanted to pursue. I just, overall, would do this again if I had the chance!”
