2015 Summer Academy Program
The New Bedford Festival Theatre is pleased to announce its exciting Summer Academy Program. Many area high school students have taken part in this program over the seventeen years it has been offered. Many have chosen to pursue Theatre Studies at the university and college level. Students from New Bedford, Fall River, Dartmouth, Fairhaven, Westport, Somerset, Swansea, Mattapoisett, and Marion have taken part and each participant has gained a working knowledge of the varied aspects of Theatre with his or her Apprentice experience. The program will run from Monday, July 6 through Monday, August 3, 2015.

(508) 991-5212. The form asks each applicant to choose the major areas of interest in which they feel they might like to be involved. Stage Crew, Set Construction, Properties, Costumes, Lighting, Sound, Stage Management, Promotion, and work in the Production Office are some of the exciting offerings. Applicants pick the areas of Theatre production that best suit them. New Bedford Festival Theatre is a place where students learn from professionals in a hands-on environment, as well as working with New York actors, some with Broadway credits. This season’s offering will be Disney’s MARY POPPINS, to be presented for 8 performances July 24 – August 2, 2015 at the historic Zeiterion Performing Arts Center in downtown New Bedford.
As participants, students will work with Artistic Director George Charbonneau, nationally known Director/Choreographer, Michael Susko, well-known Musical Director, Juan Rodriguez, highly regarded Stage Manager, Maura Neff, Master Theatre Technician, Megan Parrish and our Summer Academy Coordinator, Sara G. Cadieux.
All participants are awarded a stipend at the end of their work on each production based on the amount of time spent in the program and the duties performed High School
